13.6 How does mountain building relate to the growth of continents?

The craton of continents is that part that has remained stable for more than 500 million years. The majority are 0.5 km above sea level or less and expose mostly flat Precambrian rocks.

Here we see exposed Precambrian metamorphic rock in northwestern Canada that is about 2 billion years old.
