Contents of Convection

• Convection is the transfer of matter and heat.
• Heat makes the soup on the bottom less dense, so it rises
• At the top it loses heat, cools, and becomes denser, so it sinks back down

So just like the lava lamp, density differences (from heating) and gravity cause a cycling of material and transfer of heat.
