Key Term #1: Fossil Fuel

Fossil fuel is another name for coal. The reason why it is called fossil fuel is because when coal is burned energy from the Sun that was stored in plants that have now fossilized is used. It is not called fossil fuel for nothing. As seen in the photo above, getting fossil fuel and reproducing fossil fuel is a long process, which also includes photosynthesis the process that plants use to produce oxygen. The energy from the Sun is sucked in by the tree, and then over time the tree will decay and become a fossil. Years later coal will be mined for and burned producing emission. The burning of coal also causes greenhouse gases, which have cause the climate change.
Key Term #2:Metamorphism

Metamorphism is the process in which a rock changes. The picture above shows one process of metamorphism. In this process rocks are pushed down into the Earth’s mantle. In order for it to be a metamorphism the rock will not completely melt when it is emerged into a high temperature. The rock will undergo minor changes sometimes, which the eye cannot even see, such as different bedding or planes. Other time the rock will not be recognizable at all, but it will still be the same “parent rock”.
